fight |fʌɪt|verb ( past and past participle fought |fɔːt| )1 [ no obj. ] take part in a violent struggle involving the exchange of physical blows or the use of weapons: Stay in the fight.

A few weeks ago, I was incredibly moved and inspired by a message that I heard from my pastor, T.D. Jakes called, “Fight the Good Fight“.

Just this week, I received many prayer requests from women who shared how tired they were of the struggles they were dealing with, and how they were feeling discouraged about waiting for God to show up in their lives.

After reading story after story of personal sickness, mothers who are battling cancer, fears of the future and women who are just worn out–I was encouraged to share this message with them, and with you.

Sometimes it can be hard to continue fighting when you feel as if you have no fight left in you. Our life journey is not a physical fight–it’s not an obvious fight. The battles we fight are internal, spiritual battles–and we need to pull on scripture and make it apply to our lives so that we are strengthened and prepared to fight when we need to.

“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you; He will not fail you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1

Preparing for Battle
In this day and age, we are always on sensory overload. We have a thousand things going on at once. We hold the world in the palm of our hands, and constantly have the stress and drama of millions of people at our fingertips.

We carry our phones to bed–we are addicted and overwhelmed, and it is affecting our physical and emotional health.

We need to make time for moments of tranquility in our lives. Moments where we can unplug from the world, and just sit at the feet of Jesus. Resting. Trusting. Believing. These moments are what prepare us for the battle. They make us strong enough to win the fight.

“When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horses and chariots and people are more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you.” Deuteronomy 20:1

Be Adaptable and Allow Others to Help You
How well you adapt determines how far you will go. Do you adapt well? Many of us pray, “Bless me Lord. I want to grow, I want to develop,” but we don’t want to change. We don’t want God to disrupt our lives.

God will often use other people in your life to help you in the battles you are fighting. God is looking for a way to bless you, and you will miss it if you can’t accept help from other people. It is a Kingdom principle to be able to receive from others, and to give back.

We can be good at giving, but to need is humbling. However, Jesus didn’t come to help those who had no need–he came for the sick, the broken and the hurting. It is okay to have needs.

Oftentimes, we don’t want to confront our needs, because if we don’t have to confront our needs, then we won’t have to risk disappointment again. But you need to learn to expect again. You need to fight. You only get water when you say, “I’m thirsty.” You cannot be healed until you cry out and say, “I’m sick and need a healer.”

Keep Fighting
Anything you get without a fight has no value, and value is determined by sacrifice. You have to fight for your life. Fight against your fears, anxiousness, vulnerabilities, insecurities, your childhood disappointments and unworthiness.

How many of God’s blessings are you saying, “no” to because you won’t take on the fight with YOU? You have to learn to live, fighting through each level. You have to fight to get the job, and then fight to keep the job. In marriage, you fought to get your spouse, but then you have to fight to keep them.

Fight, and be happy while doing it. God is strengthening you, and will never give you more than you can handle!

Sabrina

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me–the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

I look at photos of my family and am constantly reminded to fight for them.  Everyday, I pray over them and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. There is a reason we are called Prayer Warriors. We go into war over our loved ones! Joining you in the battle for those around you! As you read this, may you be blessed and encouraged to keep going and striving for God’s will in your life. Keep fighting!
