Bahamas |bəˈhɑːməz| a country consisting of an archipelago off the SE coast of Florida, part of the West Indies; pop. 307,600 (est. 2009); languages, English (official), Creole; capital, Nassau. Ex: Her family loved the Bahamas!

They say, “It’s better in the Bahamas,” and I have to agree. However, I’d like to add that it’s best in the Bahamas during those chilly winter months, when you just need a little sunshine to unthaw from those icy, Dallas days!

We recently returned from a beautiful trip to the Bahamas with my whole family as a way to extend the holidays and spend a little more time together. If you’ve never been, these next few months would be the perfect time to go! We decided to make it an “Unplugged Vacation” which means that we didn’t get on our cell phones to check our emails, social media, etc.  It was strictly family time, and we truly enjoyed it!

Only a 3 hour direct flight from Dallas to Nassau makes this trip an easy and enjoyable getaway for families with with kids! We stayed at the Atlantis Resort and took advantage of all the adventures and activities on the island.

Our days were filled with deep sea fishing, swimming with dolphins, and lots of sunshine as we enjoyed the beautiful beaches and oceanfront escapades.

Field made sure to get in a few games of golf while he was on the island, and we took all of the kids to play at the many pools, slides and lazy rivers. I love that they have so many options for families with kids on this island with arcades, kids clubs, and huge aquariums.

Still, they have many getaways for adults to escape to after the kids go to bed, including The Cove, dinner at Nobu, and playing craps at the casino.

I love and treasure these trips with my family. Can’t think of a better way to start off the new year!

Where are your favorite family-friendly vacation spots??
