Live in Victory

Just as we know that God exists and loves us, we must be aware that there is an enemy in our lives that is out to destroy us. The Bible says, in Ephesians 6:12, “For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil.” There is a war in the spiritual world going on, and we must be prepared to fight (Spoiler Alert: In the end, we have already won). The enemy is defeated and Jesus is victorious.

The devil is a liar. He whispers thoughts into our minds that can corrupt our thinking. He makes us feel inadequate and not worthy. Let me remind you that he is wrong. You are worthy. You are strong. You are loved.

How can we win the victory over the lies of the enemy?

The Weapons of the Word of God
We must get the knowledge of God’s truth in us, renew our minds with His word and use the weapons of scripture (2 Corinthians 10:4,5 and Ephesians 6:10-18) to tear down every stronghold and every high thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. Spiritual “weapons” are the word of God received through preaching, teaching, books, CDs, DVDs, conferences and private Bible study. We must continue reading the word until it transforms the way we think. We must continue fighting against the enemy by standing on the truth of the word of God.

The Weapons of Praise
Praise defeats the enemy more quickly than any other battle plan–but it must be an authentic heart praise, not just lip service. We praise God according to His word and His goodness–out of a genuine belief that He loves us, cares for us and wants good things for us (Romans 8:28).

The Weapons of Prayer
Prayer builds our relationship with God. I love prayer because I believe God truly listens and cares about the desires of our heart. Begin your prayer time with thanksgiving and gratitude. Thank Him for all he has done for you and all that He will do in and through you. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all he has done (Philippians 4:6-7). Pray for the salvation of your friends and family. Ask God for healing, restoration and renewed hope. Pray that God will continue molding our hearts to become more like His, and to help us learn to love the way He does (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

You cannot overcome your hopeless situation by determination alone. You need to be determined, but determined in the Holy Spirit–not in your own flesh. The Holy Spirit is our helper, and we seek His help through prayer. Be intentional in your thought process. God doesn’t abandon us or leave us helpless. He gives us weapons to cast down every stronghold in our lives.

As we begin to use our weapons, we will begin to tear down the strongholds that have been built in our minds–and that truth will set us free.

We should not let our past, the things that have happened to us, the things we have done or the way we were raised negatively affect the rest of our lives. Our past and our pain may explain why we are suffering, but we must not use it as an excuse to stay in bondage. Everyone is without excuse because Jesus always stands ready to fulfill His promise to set the captives free. He will walk us across the finish line of victory in every area of our lives if we are willing to go all the way through it with Him.

Don’t ever give up, because little by little you are changing. The more you transform your mind for the better, the more your life will transform for the better. When you begin to adjust your thought life to see and believe God’s good plan for you–then, you will begin to walk in His truth and see the difference it makes in your daily life.

It’s our turn to…
Gain control over our minds to find freedom and peace.
Recognize destructive thoughts and stop them from influencing your life.
Be patient with yourself even when you make mistakes.
Arm yourself with the word of God, praise, prayer and other powerful spiritual weapons.
Overcome your mental “wilderness” (the bad attitudes and excuses people use that keep them from God).
Find unimaginable happiness and fulfillment.

You can do it!  I believe in you!
