Georgia |ˈjôrjə| a state in the southeastern US, on the Atlantic coast; population 9,685,744 (est. 2008); capital, Atlanta; statehood, Jan. 2, 1788 (4).

This year was our first time traveling with our entire extended family for Thanksgiving and we couldn’t have picked a more beautiful or perfect place than Sea Island, Georgia. Sea Island is a charming part of the Golden Isles located along the east coast of Georgia—absolutely stunning, and there was so much for everyone in the family to do!

We flew into Jacksonville, FL and then drove about an hour and a half to where we rented an oceanfront cottage just minutes from the beach for the whole family to stay in for the weekend. We also rented golf carts and used them to get around the island (this is so much more fun than driving everywhere in a car!).

Sea Island is my new favorite family-friendly destination when traveling with a large group. It was my first time visiting this area and I loved that there were so many activities for everyone in the family to enjoy. We went horseback riding, fishing, golfing, and swimming with the kids. When the kids didn’t want to golf with us, they were able to stay busy with all the activities available at the Sea Island Beach Club—the girls’ favorite was taking a class to make teddy bears and the boys went to several sports camps (they never get tired of this!).

There is also a great Forbes 5-star Spa and Fitness facility at the Sea Island Beach Club where I was able to work out and take fitness classes each day. We loved going to the spa here—and there are several great golf courses and tennis courts to play on.

The Cloister hotel was only minutes away and has the only Forbes 5-star restaurant in Georgia, The Georgian Room. A must-stay hotel and wonderful dining experience. Elegant and so much fun! Though The Georgian Room was amazing, my favorite meal of this trip was our family Thanksgiving feast at the cottage we rented. My mom always makes an amazing Thanksgiving dinner and nothing can beat her cooking or time spent with family!

I LOVED this vacation and I am so grateful that our whole family was able to be together in such a beautiful place this year. I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday as much as I did!

Happy Thanksgiving from us to you!
