Disney |ˈdɪzniwɜːld| an amusement park in Lake Buena Vista, southwest of Orlando, Florida, that opened in 1971. It was a very Merry Christmas at Disney!
I hope you all enjoyed the holidays with your friends and family, wherever you found yourself in the world. My family flew to Orlando, Florida this year (which was pretty different from the blizzard we experienced last year while skiing in the Colorado mountains! ;))
We took the kids, their cousins, and our family to Disney World over the holiday break—and nobody wanted to leave. The kids are old (and tall) enough now to ride all the roller coasters, rides, and to remember meeting some of their favorite celebrities (including Minnie, Mickey, & all of their friends). But I’ve never seen Camila look happier than when she got to meet Princess Tiana!
I think we covered absolutely every inch of the park. We visited the Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, Hollywood Studios, and met Poppy & Branch at Universal Studios. We walked to Toy Story Land (this is new and has 3 new rides) and spent time in the Animal Kingdom. We met all the Disney Princesses including Fiona, Anna and Elsa, and Rapunzel (the girls were star struck when they met Rapunzel!).
Field Christian even had Goofy autograph his red basketball shoes – LOL!
But our family favorite’s were Space Mountain, Test Track (Field Christian’s favorite), Expedition Everest, and The World of Avatar Flight of Passage in the Animal Kingdom (a 3D flying simulator attraction). Mila rode her very first roller coaster this trip—and she’s still talking about the Woody Woodpecker roller coaster.
We walked so much, I was so glad we rented a motorized scooter for my mom. (If you have any family members or friends who might have trouble walking coming on your trip, Big Apple Scooter was a great company to rent from. They drop-off and pick-up right to your house or hotel—they made this so easy for us!)
The park is truly magical. I loved watching the kids’ dreams come to life. The business side of me loves watching how the management strives for excellence in every aspect of the park. From the hotel to the restaurants and the rides to the employees. Everything and everyone works to the standard Disney has set. It’s inspiring and makes such a difference in the overall experience.
We were even able to attend an Orlando Magic vs. Phoenix Suns basketball game while we were there. The game went into overtime and the Suns ended up winning 122-120. Not our Mav’s—but it was a great game!
Of course, Field found some incredible places to golf in the mornings at the Ritz Carlton, Championsgate-International Course, and the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club.
