valentine |ˈvaləntʌɪn| noun a card sent, often anonymously, on St Valentine’s Day, 14 February, to a person one loves or is attracted to.• a person to whom one sends such a card or whom one asks to be one’s sweetheart. She loved her Valentine.

February is here, and love is in the air.

There is something wonderful about Valentine’s Day that allows us to celebrate and convey the admiration we have for that special someone in our lives. I hope you express your love for that person each and every day of the year, but Valentine’s Day is always extra special and extra romantic!

If you’re looking for ways to spend some quality time with the one you love this Valentine’s Day and need some ideas, I have a few Dallas V-day favorites to share with you…

Gui – Korean Japanese Bistro & Bar
Gui has become one of Field and my favorite date spots. When we just need an evening to ourselves to catch up on life, we run to Gui for some delicious sushi and edamame. The atmosphere is very dark, chill and romantic with soft music. This would be a perfect place to take a date on Valentine’s Day for good conversation and catching up. Be sure to make a reservation on the website!

For The Sports Enthusiast
Field and I are huge Maverick’s fans and try to attend as many games as we can throughout the year. This year, there are two home games scheduled near Valentine’s Day that would be a great gift for any basketball loving boyfriend! I always love the look on Field’s face when I surprise him with tickets to see his favorite sports teams. You can tell your significant other to thank me in the comments section… *wink*

Saturday, February 11th @8pm – Mavericks vs. Orlando Magic

Monday, February 13th @7:30pm – Mavericks vs. Boston Celtics

Picnic at Klyde Warren Park
Visiting Klyde Warren Park has become one of the Harrison’s favorite pastimes. Whether it is morning, afternoon or evening, with the kids or with Field, there is always something to do here. For a date night, I would suggest bringing a blanket in the evening and some cash to take your pick for dinner from the yummy food trucks parked on the east side. Sometimes, they even have live music playing in the evenings. Nothing says romance like a picnic under the stars with a little jazz playing in the background!

Dallas Museum of Art
If your significant other enjoys classical and modern art, the Dallas Art Museum would be a perfect place for a Valentine’s date. They have a Music and Masterpieces event coming up on Saturday, February 11th at 2pm in partnership with the Dallas Opera, with tours of the museum following the performance. Sounds lovely!

Al Biernat’s
If you prefer steak to sushi, Al Biernat’s is the place for you this Valentine’s Day. Al Biernat’s has done an impeccable job of combining an elegant, romantic atmosphere with arguably the best steak in Dallas. There is no doubt you will be treated well by the staff and that you will be eager to return upon leaving. Be sure to try the creamed spinach and the lobster risotto–and don’t forget to make a reservation for brunch, lunch or dinner! Enjoy!

Cooking Classes
This is a great idea for couples who want to learn to cook together, or if you want to take a few girlfriends out who don’t have plans this Valentine’s Day. Make the most of the evening! I love grocery shopping at Central Market, but recently found out they offer cooking classes in their stores. The classes are informative, fun and a great way to spend an evening. Be sure to check their schedule and register before it’s too late!

Hypnotic Donuts
Morning glory! There is no better way to wake up on Valentine’s Day than to breakfast in bed with hand-made, fresh and fun delicious donuts. Hypnotic Donuts has become famous in Dallas for their chicken biscuits and fun-flavored donuts. Some of my favorites include the Espresso Yo Self coffee flavored donut and Canadian Healthcare (topped with a full strip of bacon!). I’ll be working on a post-Valentine’s Day workout blog so we can enjoy indulging for one day! *wink*

I hope these Dallas favorites will help inspire you to find the perfect date night ideas for your special someone this year. Happy Valentines Day from ours to yours!

XO-
Sabrina
