San Francisco, California – June 2016
San Francisco is one of my favorite cities in the world. From the Fisherman’s Wharf to the historical cable cars, from Alcatraz to the famous Golden Gate Bridge–this beautiful city always captures my heart.

A few weeks ago, we took a little weekend getaway to San Francisco to celebrate Field’s upcoming birthday. We stayed at the beautiful St. Regis Hotel, downtown near the Bay Bridge–keeping us within walking distance from our favorite restaurants and tourist spots.

Tourist Attractions We Enjoyed
Once called, “the bridge that couldn’t be built,” today stands as one of the seven wonders of the modern world. The Golden Gate Bridge is arguably San Francisco’s most famous landmark, and is certainly one of my favorites.

From there, we took a ferry to Sausalito and enjoyed the stunning view of the city from the bay. I always enjoy being out on the water.

Alcatraz is another must-see attraction when touring San Francisco. A mile and half from Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz was the site of the first lighthouse in the Western United States and became a federal penitentiary housing many famous convicts. It was beautiful to see while we were riding the ferry.

Lombard Street is a famous east-west street that runs for a steep, one block section with eight tight turns. This road is said to be the most crooked street in the world. It is surrounded by lush landscaping and colorful San Francisco housing–making it one of my top San Francisco stops.

We enjoyed shopping at some of our favorite stores and even found a few new local favorites. The Neiman Marcus was the prettiest I’ve ever seen. There were such great Memorial Weekend sales! Field and I bought matching black moto jackets from All Saints and I also found some cool tan, western fringe chunky heel boots at Saint Laurent that I am loving! Field also bought the Men’s version of this shoe–so we really had fun shopping together that afternoon.

The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is always a treat while touring the city. The fresh fruits and vegetables are delicious and we enjoyed meeting and talking with the local farmers in the area. I love eating high-quality, organic food options–so this is always a stop on our list when visiting this city!

Restaurants We Recommend
Right in the neighborhood of the iconic Fisherman’s Wharf, Gary Danko continues to refine classic French cooking with award-winning combinations of local ingredients. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting–a lovely place for an evening dinner date!

Boulevard Restaurant is a must if you enjoy high-end wine, breads and desserts. The food is always delicious–prepared and served to your table like a piece of art. Make sure to try the Dark Chocolate and Almond Truffle Bar!

We enjoyed eating at The Grove for both breakfast and lunch. This family-owned restaurant has a very modern, San Francisco feel–and serves breakfast all day! They are famous for their sandwiches, egg scrambles and organic teas and coffee.

Golden State Warriors Game
We are major basketball fans (Go Mavs!), and enjoyed being in town for the record-setting Golden State vs. Oklahoma Thunder Western Conference Game 7 that sent the Warriors to the NBA Finals! Though we are loyal to the Dallas Mavericks, it was incredible to watch Stephen Curry rain 3’s all night, leading the Warriors to victory.

Thanks for the wonderful get-away, San Francisco!
