Merry Christmas from Breckenridge, Colorado! I wrote this devotional yesterday (Christmas Eve) and wanted to share it with you all. Hope you enjoy!

I’m sitting by the tree enjoying the beautiful lights and the peace and quiet before my kids wake up to prepare for our family vacation and open presents tonight. (We are opening our gifts a little early this year because we are heading to Breckenridge, Colorado tomorrow for our family Christmas!)

The kids had been shaking their presents and begging me to open “just one” before Christmas for weeks now. But no matter how much they begged, I knew just how special Christmas Eve would be for them, and for us as a family –– if they could just wait for the right and perfect time!

God is just like this with us. He sees things that we do not see. He knows things that we do not know. When waiting on a dream or a goal to come to pass, we can often get discouraged and start losing hope that it will ever happen. But at just the right time, God will open the right doors for us to walk through.

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time, we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9

We have to trust that God sees the big picture. He sees what is up ahead, and what we are going to need for the journey. Sometimes, the person we think we can’t live without is actually someone who will hold us back from all that God has for us! Trust that if something doesn’t work out, it is actually better for you—and you need to let it go! If it is for you, God will get it back to you.

“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Proverbs 16:9

This means God has already determined a specific time for the completion and fulfillment of the desires He has placed within you! When we get discouraged, we need to choose to put our trust in Him, knowing that He wants good for us (Romans 8:28) and that He knows better than we do.

“For my thoughts are nothing like your thoughts. And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

When I was single, I would wonder if I would ever get married. But I didn’t settle, and I chose to believe that God would give me the very best. It wasn’t until I stopped looking around for the right guy and decided to prepare myself to be the best wife instead, that God brought Field into my life.

Use the time that God is giving you right now (time that may seem more like “silence”) as preparation for what is coming. This season may seem quiet, but I promise God is working on your behalf behind the scenes. Just like in the winter, when things seem to be lifeless and still, they are really very much alive—and the roots of the trees are growing deeper down into the ground of their foundation to be able to produce more life in the coming seasons.

Know that God is doing the same for you. The quiet times can be the most wonderful times if you just choose to use them to your advantage! Grow, learn, study and pray. Start believing and becoming the person you desire to be when your deepest dreams are fulfilled—and just watch how God uses this season to prepare and propel you into your destiny!

My prayer for you today is that you would place your hopes, dreams and desires into the hands of God—and trust that He will take better care of them than you can. He cares more about them than you do, and He loves you more than you could ever know!

I’m hearing some kids stirring now, so I need to wrap this up and prepare myself for a whirlwind! Remember the reason for the season and the love that was sent just for you on this day!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from the Harrison household!

Sabrina
