Yesterday, I attended StyleCon Dallas with some dear friends of mine and was honored to discuss The Beauty of Friendships as a 2017 StyleCon Social Influencer. I spent the day with this year’s Style Influencers including my good friend, Tiffany Hendra, Jeanine Amapola, and the beautiful Catherine Giudici Lowe.

I love StyleCon because it was designed to bring together a community of fashion and beauty lovers, digital influencers, and style and tastemakers with brands that engage, discuss, follow and influence. This is a place where top stylists and makeup artists can showcase their talents and network with other like-minded individuals while listening to inspirational entrepreneurs in the style business.

This is not only a great place to network if you use social media marketing, but a place of genuine sisterhood. I love when talented women can get together and cheer one another on, rather than competing and striving to be better than everyone else. I believe we are called to help and encourage one another in this journey of life–and I love when I see women doing that!

I read a statistic this week that said it is estimated that we will form about 400 friendships over the course of our lifetime, but only 33 of those friendships will last. It is so important who we surround ourselves with and who we allow to speak into our lives. It is said that we are a compilation of our 5 closest friends. Who are the top 5 influencers in your life?

“Do not be misled. Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33

I was at a birthday luncheon this week with several of my closest girlfriends, and I was reminded just how grateful I am for those who have stuck by me through thick and thin. Some of these girls were new friendships, and some I have known almost all my life. No matter how long I’ve known them, I know that each of them was brought into my life for a specific reason and purpose.

“Walk with the wise, and become wise…” Proverbs 13:20

I was asking God this month for mentors in my life. For a woman that I could look up to and emulate. Someone who had it “all” together. But what God showed me, was that he has brought many “mentors” in my life–and each of the women surrounding me that day was one of those mentors. I realized that each of these women mentor me in their specific area of expertise. God hasn’t given me one mentor who has it all–he has given me a sisterhood of women who challenge me, love me, stand beside me and encourage me–and it is my hope and prayer that I will do the same for them.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Two are better than one. I know this to be true in my own life, and I pray you can find a sisterhood of your own to walk through life with. If you are in need of good friends and have been praying for mentors or influencers in your own life, I want to invite you to our monthly sisterhood gathering, Equipped by Faith. EBF is a monthly gathering of women of all ages, races and seasons of life. We come together to eat, pray and listen to an encouraging word from our monthly guest speaker. Lady Jade will be with us next month on Wednesday, October 4th at 7pm at The Residences at The Highland–and you’re invited! Bring a friend, or be prepared to make some!

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17

I pray you will grow to understand the need for Godly friendships and relationships in your life today. Choose wisely who is influencing your heart and mind–after all, your heart is precious and it deserves great love and care!

You are lovely!
