CrossFit |krɒs| |fɪt| noun + adjective 1 a mark, object, or figure formed by two short intersecting lines or pieces (+ or ×) 2 of a suitable quality, standard, or type to meet the required purpose: CrossFit is a branded fitness regimen created by Greg Glassman and is a registered trademark of CrossFit, Inc.

It’s true. I’m a Cross-Fitter–and proud of it. Like many others, I tried the CrossFit workout and never turned back.

I enjoy finding and trying new workout routines and exercises, but CrossFit has been one that I will keep in the rotation from week to week–because, it works!

CrossFit was founded in the early 2000’s and has only grown more popular by the year–and for good reason. The fun, non-threatening atmosphere and challenging workouts keep patrons coming back each week, and new attendees are always joining.

This strength and conditioning program consists mainly of a mix of aerobic exercises, bodyweight exercises and weightlifting. Their motto and goal is to improve fitness while having fun and learning how to live a healthy, balanced life. Crossfit is great for people who get bored of following the same exercise routine everyday.

If you’ve never tried CrossFit before, it can seem a little intimidating. But, I promise–it’s not! The hour-long classes start with a warm-up, a skill development segment, the “workout of the day” and end with individual or group stretching. The exercises are quick and continuous, which have a good effect on burning extra fat and improving overall fitness. All CrossFit workouts can be modified to fit nearly any fitness level.

You can look online for the workout of the day, and find what time and day work best for you!

There are several locations around the Dallas area, so you can easily go on the website and search for the one closest to you. I love that there is a location just a few blocks from my house. This makes it harder for me to make excuses not to go in the mornings when I want to sleep in!

I used to attend the 9:30am class, and that was awesome because there were only a few of us. Now, because of my earlier work schedule, I attend the 6:30am class 3 times a week. This class is completely full, but that makes it really fun and the time passes really quickly! I always, always leave feeling like I pushed myself and am more ready for the day.

While CrossFit challenges the world’s fittest athletes, the program is designed for anyone, making it the perfect workout for any person, regardless of experience, wanting to make a life change in the area of health. Exercise intensity is based on the individual, not the group.

CROSSFIT TIP: You NEED gloves for your work outs.  This will protect your hands from growing callous and becoming rough. I love these!

I encourage you to find a location near you, and let me know if you like it as much as I do!  I’m excited to check out
Bishop Arts Crossfit soon! It is run by a few great friends of mine and their passion for fitness alone makes me want to come and experience it for myself!

Effective training, with long-term results.

A fellow CrossFitter,

XO-
Sabrina
