soar |sôr| verb [ no obj. ] fly or rise high in the air: When she heard His voice, her spirit soared.
I’ve been reading, SOAR! by Bishop T.D. Jakes over the past few weeks, and it has been encouraging me so much in the calling and vision I feel I have on my life. Bishop is my favorite preacher, a dear mentor–and certainly one of my favorite authors. I am always so inspired by his words of passion and wisdom!
I’ve loved other books T.D. Jakes has written (this is actually his 40th book — Congratulations, Bishop!), but this one has been especially timely for me because it is all about building your dreams from the ground up, and pursuing your God-given vision through entrepreneurship. Field and I have an incredible passion to bridge the gap between the church and the marketplace, and this book is fuelling the fire that has been ignited in my heart for that purpose.
Now, you don’t have to be in the business world or an entrepreneur in order to read this book and pursue your dreams. It just takes patience, persistence and practice. I love how T.D. Jakes has written business concepts and practical tips that are easy enough for anyone to understand and passionate enough to inspire us to let go of jobs or time-wasters that have nothing to do with our purpose in life! This book will help you to: change your mindset, use your time wisely, overcome fear, focus on your vision, create a strategy, and take control of your life. I feel like all of us could grow from even one of these concepts, so if you are struggling with your vision–I think this book will really encourage you.
If you allow yourself to remain perched on the edge of life’s nest, afraid to test your wings, then you will risk missing out on becoming the person God has made you to be! So many of us remain in jobs that have nothing to do with what God has called us to do with our lives. So many of us get caught up in time-wasting apps and activities that do not push us toward our purpose. We should enjoy waking up every day to serve the God we love with all of our hearts, minds and passions! We have to learn how to let go of these things and pursue all that God has for our lives! I want to see you reach your greatest potential and destiny here on earth. God has so much in store for you!
I believe each of us has a God-given purpose and destiny placed on our lives. It is sad to me when I see so many people discouraged and missing out on the fullness of life. This doesn’t mean life is perfect or that troubles don’t come our way–they certainly will! It just means, God is on your side–and you are choosing to live your life for HIM, no longer for yourself. That is where true purpose and destiny are found. Bishop Jakes says, “Preparation facilitates liberation.” We need to prepare ourselves for the God-sized dreams He has placed inside of us! Draft your flight plan, and follow it!
The best thing is, it is never too late to pursue your dreams. If you’re feeling discouraged about where you are in life, this book is a great place to start. It will encourage you and teach you how to maximize your gifts and abilities in order to discover what you should be doing with your time! In pursuing your dreams and goals, remember to never lose sight of balance in life and the priority of loving those most important to you!
We are ultimately created to bring joy to our Heavenly Father. He created you with special gifts and talents to use for His Kingdom and glory. I can’t wait for you to read this book and to discover what those gifts are! Please write me and tell me all about what God is doing in your life after reading this book. I can’t wait to hear all about it!
“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will SOAR on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
