Miracles Still Happen

In honor of my mama’s birthday today, I’m praising the Lord for her life and listening to “Praise You Through the Storm” by Casting Crowns right now. (March 9th)

This song reminds me of walking through one of the scariest seasons of my life. Several years ago, high-stress had caused my mom’s health to fail and she was diagnosed with sclerosis of the liver. She needed a liver transplant and had no hope in sight. A new liver seemed impossible in the natural. I watched as my mother grew very sick, weak, and hopeless–she was deteriorating quickly. Doctors advised her to prepare her will, as she only had months to live. I was working and living in Laredo when I got a phone call that my mom was taken to a hospital in San Antonio. I immediately left work, and prayed the entire 2.5 hour drive to the hospital (Thank God I drove alone, because I did the ugly cry the whole way there). I was terrified of losing my mama. The Casting Crowns Lifesong album was in my car, and I found so much hope and purpose through the song, “Praise You Through the Storm”.

I could feel God’s presence all around me, and I knew He would never leave me.  Though my heart was torn, I praised Him through the storm. My faith grew as I watched God turn this hopeless situation around. Years later (shortly after I got engaged and moved back to Dallas), my mom received a successful liver transplant through a miraculous series of events, and she was completely healed! My mom is alive, healthier, and more beautiful than ever. Through her struggle, she never lost faith and lives to give God all the glory! Months after my mom’s surgery, she was able to watch me get married–and she looked beyond beautiful and healthy! This was absolutely a dream come true. Seeing God’s miracles all around me have taught me how to live by faith, and not by sight. My mom’s faith, her example, and the testimony of her life will continue to set an example for me and for others whom I can touch because of her steadfast faith in God. God is no respecter of persons, and what He has done for one, He will do for another.

A More Excellent Way: Be in Health – A More Excellent Way is a valuable resource in understanding the spiritual dynamics behind diseases of the body, spirit, and soul. This book will transform your thinking and can lead to major breakthrough in your health. It gives biblical insight into the healing ministry and teaches about the spiritual roots and causes of disease. I truly believe that once the spiritual roots are dealt with, the body will heal itself. I have seen a direct connection between individuals’ personal history and their health condition, therefore I recommend this great book by Henry Wright to anyone suffering from disease or just wanting to maintain good health.

The healing power of God is working in you right now! God is your physician and His word is your medicine. I am standing firm in faith with you believing for total healing, freedom from bondage of medicines, trust in Jesus, wisdom for doctors, peace for you and your family, and increased passion to know Jesus and the Holy Spirit. By His stripes we are healed in Jesus’ name!

“I wish above all things that you would prosper and be in health.”
3 John 1:2

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
Proverbs 17:22
