Our MINT dentistry office in East Houston was left completely destroyed after Hurricane Harvey hit last August. The devastation it left not only affected our offices but the lives of our incredible employees. Our Dallas executive team made our way down to help as soon as we could, only being able to assist in giving out food, water, blankets and dental supplies to anyone we met along the way. By the grace of God, we still managed to keep our employees paid while they couldn’t work under such terrible circumstances.
Over the past several months, we have been working to get our office back up and running, redecorated and ready to accept patients once again. You can see the original photos of the office before the hurricane here. As I walked through the wreckage, I was reminded of how excited I was when I first designed this space when we first opened the doors.
When I found out this office had been destroyed, I immediately began to pray for every patient and employee who had ever walked through those doors. My heart was heavy for each of them as I prayed for protection over their homes and families, for refuge and safety for our incredible staff members and that God would help to raise this place back up again.
When the re-construction was completed at East Houston, my team and I went in and began rebuilding and redecorating. I love geometric patterns and bold black and white silhouettes. In my opinion, patterns with movement and depth add new life and make a room more vibrant. The rug helped me tie the room together and adds a balanced dimension. The patterns complimented the furnishings well and made the overall design one of a kind. I chose a strong, modern color palette of black, gold and white because I wanted this office to tell a story of strength and purpose. I chose to place a painted mural of the Houston skyline behind the couch as a statement piece to remind everyone of our love for this great city! To me, it portrays all of the amazing people of Houston who endured such a catastrophic circumstance, and yet still managed to stay strong, resilient and full of hope through it all.
You are all heros to me! I hope you love this office space–there was so much love poured into it for each of you!
