Milan Fashion Week 2019 was absolutely incredible. So happy Kristin Smith with The Clad Life and photographer, Frank Del Corral were able to join me again this year. Fashion week has become an annual birthday tradition for me that I look forward to every September!

I leave each year feeling more and more inspired by the creativity of the fashion designers, street styles, and the excellency put into each show. Fashion and architectural elements are some of my greatest influences when it comes to my interior design work—and Milan is full of inspiration because it is an urban city in Northern Italy, best known for fashion and design. We stayed at the Armani Hotel, right in the heart of the historic center of Milan in the fashion district—the perfect location for this trip!

We enjoyed shows from Peter Pilotto (revealing their first-ever menswear collection) and a colorful Moschino show inspired by Pablo Picasso at Palazzo del Ghiaccio. We also attended the Milan Vogue Extreme Beauty Party and the Vogue Japan 20th Anniversary Celebration at the Bulgari Hotel, and I loved being able to spend a day with Ricke De Sole, Head of Vogue Fashion Initiatives. We stopped to see Gianvito Rossi’s spring shoe collection in his showroom, ate lunch at Il Salumaio (beautiful & delicious!), and ended the day at the ETRO show on the Via Conservatorio. But the most iconic moment of the trip was seeing JLo’s stunning debut wearing a version of her infamous 2000 Grammy’s jungle print gown at Versace’s fashion show finale. It’s a moment I’ll never forget.

Before heading home, we headed farther north to spend the day on Lake Como and exploring the streets of Bellagio and Varenna on a boat tour. This is such an iconic place and absolutely breathtaking. After spending time on the water and exploring, we had dinner at Carlo e Camilla in Segheria (a super cute place with excellent food—5 stars!!).

Italy will always be one of my favorite destinations to visit. It was so fun seeing all the upcoming spring and summer 2020 fashion trends. I always leave fashion week feeling more inspired to create new interior design ideas. Can’t wait until next year!
