big |biɡ| adjective 1 of considerable size, extent, or intensity: She made a big difference through mentoring.

I hope you’re all enjoying a cozy weekend indoors staying safe and dry from all the rain storms Texas has been having the past few days! I’ve been catching up on some indoor to-do list items, and thought I would share a little bit today about a volunteer campaign I’m involved with for Big Brothers Big Sisters called, Faithful with a Little.

I am honored to be on the Executive Board for the Lone Star Texas branch, encouraging Texas churches, schools, businesses and individuals to get involved through financial partnership or volunteer service. Since 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been helping young children and youth succeed and thrive in life through one-on-one mentoring programs.

As a mother of two children of my own, my heart goes out to anyone who has to walk through this life alone. I am keenly aware of the importance of investing in a child’s future and know just how important it is for young minds to have someone to look up to, someone to depend on, and someone to challenge and encourage them through the difficulties of life.

As you know, millions of children in America are in need of a healthy, caring adult role model. Many children are growing up in single-parent homes where the sole guardian does not have the time or resources to give their child for a successful future on their own. The mentors and volunteers of Big Brothers Big Sisters are individuals who have dedicated their lives to providing healthy mentoring relationships for children facing adversity and challenges within our very own city of Dallas, Texas.

In Luke 16:10, Jesus said, “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones.” We believe, if we can be faithful with a little through one-on-one mentoring for a child facing adversity, that we will be given much in return. Every resource God gives to us—whether that be our time, our talents, our finances, or our influence—is a resource we have to offer a world in need.

My husband, Field, and I believe so strongly in this mentoring program and we stand behind the wonderful leaders, staff and mentors in the hopes of reaching more children with the love, hope and relationships they need to thrive in life.

If you are interested and would like to hear more about how you or your church can get involved, I would love to set up a meeting or phone call to discuss the partnership opportunities available to you.

You can make a BIG difference with a LITTLE!
