fashion |ˈfaSHən| noun 1 a popular trend, especially in styles of dress and ornament or manners of behavior: his hair is cut in the latest fashion.
Had a wonderful time at London Fashion Week 2018. I was so happy to have my dear friends, Kristin Smith with The Clad Life, and photographer, Frank Del Corral join me again this year. It’s becoming an annual birthday tradition for me that I absolutely love.
Fashion Week is a week I look forward to because I leave feeling so inspired by the designers, art, street style, and shows. Fashion and architectural elements are some of my greatest influences when it comes to my interior design work. Vintage church interiors, modern skyscrapers, and architectural designs all influence my individual style—and London is bursting with inspiration.
London is best known for its historical markers like Buckingham Palace ,Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, and Big Ben (we stopped for a Coca Cola at the London Eye and saw Big Ben under construction). But London is also buzzing with new designers and modern artists making it an absolutely magical place for fashion week. The mixture of vintage architecture and contemporary designs were so inspiring!
This year was a literal dream come true as we attended Chubby Cloud with Poppy Delevingne and shows by Peter PilottoPam Hogg, Lunyee, and Ashley Isham. My absolute favorite was Mary Katrantzou’s 10 year anniversary show. It was a collection of all previous collections—and it was so, so beautiful.
I enjoyed the fashion shows, walking around the city, shopping at Harrods, and afternoon tea at Sketch (Known as the most beautiful restaurant in London. If you’re in London, this is a must!). We ate at some of the most incredible places on our trip—but my favorites were NovikovPark Chinois, and the Chiltern Firehouse restaurant.
London has a lot of traffic because they are the most densely populated European city, but overall the trip was wonderful. We had great weather, constant inspiration, and stayed together at the beautiful Rosewood London Hotel, an ultra-luxury hotel that has somehow managed to combine English heritage and contemporary sophistication perfectly (and the staff was wonderful!).
London inspired me. The shows we attended were saturated with so many different forms of art, design, and conceptual styles that can easily translate to interiors. Travel always influences my work because I am most inspired by seeing new places and architecture. I always leave Fashion Week feeling inspired and ready to design new spaces.

Fashion design and interior design are very closely aligned because design is all about creation, creativity, and functionality. Both share many of the same trends and aspirations through fabrics, colors, textures, and shapes. That’s why design is such a big part of so many different industries—both fashion and interior design should be innovative and creative, while maintaining functionality.
I love design because it is so personal to each individual and and allows us to be creative and unique, all while helping us to understand other people and the world around us.
I had a wonderful week in London and I can’t wait to start on new projects—but I am even happier to be back home in Texas with my babies and hubby!
Until next year…
XO-
Sabrina
