Life is all about making decisions. We get to decide what job we want to pursue, what person we want to marry, what flavor of coffee we want to drink… From the most simple to the most complicated, each decision requires a certain amount of faith.

My brother and his wife recently moved their family to Dallas from the city we grew up in–Laredo, Texas. They left the comfort of a familiar city, school system and both of their families to pursue a new career and a completely new season of life.

Trusting, Despite Fear
Sometimes, when we are faced with big decisions in our lives, we can become paralyzed because we are afraid of making the wrong choice. This only causes unnecessary stress and anxiety, because God promises us in His word that He determines our steps.

“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Proverbs 16:9

God reminds us in Matthew 6:34 that we are to be anxious for nothing, because He takes care of the details of our lives. This verse is so important because it requires complete faith and trust in God. When we put our faith in God, we are giving Him complete control, trusting that He knows what is best for us and our families. This takes great faith, but it is so worth it!

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring it’s own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:34

Saying “Yes” to God’s Best
We have to remember that God loves us and wants the best for our lives. When you feel like He is leading you into a new season of your life, closing doors and opening others–pray! Ask God to lead and direct your life, and say “YES” to all He is asking you to do.

My brother and his wife were afraid to leave everything they had in Laredo, but now, God has provided a new career, wonderful schools, new friends and incredible financial resources for them because they took this step of faith to move where they felt God was leading them.

God is not going to ask you to do something and then leave you high and dry. He walks with us, not ahead or behind.

“For I know the plans I have for you… Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Prayer: Father, I pray that you would help my friends to listen to your voice today. I know you have a calling and a purpose for each of their lives. Show them what that is. Speak to their hearts, and help them to take the steps of faith that are required to get them to where you are leading them. Give them great faith. I pray you would give them peace and joy as they give all of their anxiety and worries to you. You are a good father, and you care about every detail of our lives. We love you, Lord. Amen!

A great life is made of great faith!
