July |jəˈlī| noun the seventh month of the year, in the northern hemisphere usually considered the second month of summer: Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!

I hope you were able to spend our American Independence Day with friends and family, celebrating the 4th exactly how it’s meant to be celebrated: with backyard BBQ’s, juicy watermelon, laying out at the poolside, playing on the lake, and of course—ending the evening with fireworks.

We were able to do all of the above at our new family lake house for a backyard Mexican style BBQ. I was so happy that our first house-warming party landed on this holiday. The lake house is the perfect setting for a summer get-together, and I can’t wait to host more!

It was such a perfect day—sunny, but not too hot. All of the kids swam in the pool for hours and played on the trampoline and the blow-up bounce houses we had rented for the day, while the adults played at the lake on jet skis and the boat. It was so fun to have all of our friends over to see and enjoy our new summer home.

The party continued into the evening as we drove back up to Dallas for the MINT Fireworks Show at Glencoe Park. We had such a great turnout, it seemed like the whole city of Dallas had gathered together to celebrate.

I couldn’t believe the kids still had the energy to play games at the park after they had worn themselves out all day in the pool. I could see their eyes getting heavy during the incredible fireworks show, but they managed to stay awake until the grand finale. (They slept SO well last night. *grin* Honestly, we all did!)

I love fireworks and the fourth of July. It always brings back nostalgic memories of being a kid, and it is so fun to get to create these special memories with my own kids now.

Grateful to be an American, grateful for my freedom, and grateful for all of the friends, family, and loved ones I get to spend these holidays with!

Until next year!

XO-

Sabrina
