her |həː, hə| pronoun 1 used as the object of a verb or preposition to refer to a female person : I love her heart.

There are few women in the world who I admire as much as Becky Hennesy. There is something special about the way her smile lights up a room, the way she looks you deep in the eyes when you’re talking (just so you know how much she cares about what you’re saying), and the way she encourages and inspires others to be better–just by being herself.

Becky is a gifted teacher and minister who always communicates clearly and effectively from the transparency of her heart and life. She is currently serving as Co-Pastor of Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, Texas and is the Director of the Women’s Ministry there. She was a pivotal part of starting a pregnancy home for women in crisis called, Hope Mansion, and is a champion for foster children and orphans around the world. Becky is currently the Chaplain for the Dallas Wings WNBA basketball team and was named Cedar Hill’s “Woman of the Year” in 2016.

Her greatest passion is to create a safe place for women to grow. I am privileged to have known Becky for many years, and now I want to share this wonderful blessing with each of you! I hope you enjoyed our evening together at Equipped by Faith this week–and if you missed it, I pray you are encouraged by Becky’s heart in the interview below.

Q&A with Becky Hennesy

  1. What do you think you were put on this earth for? Biggest dream?
I believe I was placed on this earth to love God and to love His children. I do that by helping the hurting, by caring for orphans and foster children, and by meeting the needs of those in prison, nursing homes, and the young women placed in Hope Mansion. I believe in diversity and racial reconciliation, and I love that our church home is filled with believers of every race, color and background. I believe that Jim and I have been given an opportunity to steward a movement of helping the hurting of our society by giving people with dreams and passions a place and a voice through our church and other areas of influence. We love being “cheerleaders” and support to those with desire for outreach ministries.
  1. What are some of the obstacles that you have had to go through to get to this point?
Disappointment (with God), unanswered prayers (Alzheimer’s, my son’s divorce, and family relationships), issues of diversity and racial reconciliation leading up to this year’s election, and trusting God with relationships/vision/finances.
  1. What motivates/inspires you?
Heaven. The reminder of the cross–that we are bought with a price. The Holy Spirit…”You shall receive…” and His promises. People who have been trailblazers in the faith and how their lives have made an impact for the Kingdom of God.
  1. What do you want to be remembered by?
That I LOVED God and that I LOVED people. Prayer: I use to want to be known for what I “did”. Now I just want to be known as a person of prayer and God’s presence. I want to be known for my kindness–that I loved people. I want to be known for my passion–that I cared deeply to the point of sacrifice.

     5.  What advice would you give other women searching for their purpose, passion & faith?
Say “yes” to opportunities: schools (inspire), prison ministry, choose to serve somewhere.

Be faithful. Week after week. It’s the long road of obedience that marks us. Trust God to lead your life. Develop grit for difficult seasons. You can develop passion for anything. Finally, there are so many needs–find one to meet!

  1. What has been your greatest achievement in life?
Remaining faithful to God. Choosing to stay in my marriage. My three grown children who are amazing adults. Being faithful in the local church and finding opportunities outside the church walls to love, serve and lead.
  1. How does what you do reflect ministry, what God placed on your heart to share with the world?
Basketball – sharing time and the Gospel with high school students and professionals.
Hope Mansion – through loving the “least” among us.
Foster Kids – the modern day “orphan”.
  1. What books are you currently reading?
Defining Moments by Bill JohnsonThe Forgotten Way by Ted DekkerWandering in the Wilderness by Brian Simmons
  1. How do you stay encouraged & faith filled?
Early morning Bible reading. I read until I know God has spoken to me through a story/verse. Right now I am just reading the Psalms. Prayer. I have a few prayers written out, and then I pray the Psalms. Worship. Scripture declarations.
  1. Favorite Scripture of the moment?
“Fear not (there is nothing to fear), for I am with you; do not look around you in terror or be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My victorious right hand of rightness and justice.” Isaiah 41:9-11

I just love Becky and her heart for God and people. If you missed last night’s EBF, join us next time!

Put God first, and everything else will follow! See you next month for Equipped by Faith!
