snacks |snak| noun a small amount of food eaten between meals.• a light meal that is eaten in a hurry or in a casual manner: Give your children healthy snacks!

Eating healthy can be difficult these days, especially when you’re a busy mom trying to balance a full-time job, keep your house clean and trying your best to maintain somewhat of a social life.

Getting your kids to eat healthy can be even harder. Walking down the snack aisle in the grocery store with my toddlers can almost be as difficult as pulling them away from the toy section in Target.

However, the snacks that our kids want these days can be full of sugar, preservatives and who knows what when you read (or try to read) the ingredients on the labels behind the box. The well-being and health of my family is very important to me, so I’ve made a list of my favorite Healthy Snacks for Kids to share with you today–and yes, they are toddler approved!

Healthy Snack Ideas for Kids (Toddler Approved!)
Healthy snacks for kids can include a blend of healthy carbohydrates, protein and fruits or vegetables. Remember to keep sugar to a minimum, and even too much fruit can spike up insulin levels. More veggies and protein is always best. All organic, home-grown natural food is good for your kids, and for you!

-Baked Sweet Potatoes with Honey
-Baked Salmon with Whole-Grain Crackers and a slice of cheese
-Celery Sticks with Almond Butter

Remember, snacking isn’t bad–it’s actually good for your kids (and you!) to eat throughout the day. Healthy snacking is actually proven to increase your metabolism and increase weight loss. Sounds like a win-win to me!

I hope you enjoy our family’s favorite healthy snacks, and I would love to hear your ideas as well! Happy Snacking!
