The Power of What We See, Hear and Do.

faith |feɪθ| noun [ mass noun ]1 complete trust or confidence in someone or something: this restores one’s faith. 2 strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.• [ count noun ] a particular religion: the Christian faith.• [ count noun ] a strongly held belief: women with strong faith.

Life has thrown many challenges, transitions, and adjustments my way–but through it all, I have never lost my faith. With every test and trial, I have learned how to stand on God’s promises and witness His faithfulness on full display.  My faith has matured through every step of the journey and has given me a solid foundation that keeps me firmly planted and rooted in God’s truth.

Things that would once bother me or rob me of joy no longer affect my attitude or cause me to fear the future. I now see every setback as a set up for greater blessing. My purpose has grown greater through pain. I truly believe that God has a plan to use everything we go through for our good–to prosper us and to use us as a blessing to others (Romans 8:8, Jeremiah 29:11).

Building Your Faith
Building your faith takes time, energy and determination. We build our faith through reading the scriptures, praying and creating sustainable relationships with friends and family. We can also build our faith through people we look up to and admire. Field and I both have mentors, books, music and podcasts that we read and listen to that help us build our faith on a daily basis.

Have you ever heard the age-old song that states, “be careful little ears what you hear”? I believe so strongly that our lives are a reflection of the choices we make. Those choices create a foundation that is formed by the things we chose to put into our hearts. The Bible says, “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy then your whole body will be full of light” (Matthew 6:22). This verse isn’t talking about 20/20 vision, it’s talking about the things that we allow into our heart, mind and spirit. We have to be mindful of what we watch, listen to and who we chose to allow into the closest parts of our lives.

The Power of What We Listen To
I love music, and believe in it’s power to change our attitude and mood.  I like to listen to worship music or other uplifting songs because listening to these songs puts my mind at ease and encourages my spirit. Here are some of my favorite worship albums and songs right now!

Simple Gospel by United Pursuit (Album)

No Other Name by Hillsong (Album)

We Will Not Be Shaken and Have It All by Bethel (both amazing Albums!)

Pieces by Steffany Gretzinger (Song)

Out of Hiding by Steffany Gretzinger (Song off of The Undoing Album)

I have many Christian mentors, speakers and teachers that I look up to and listen to often through books, podcasts and church sermons. I love listening to podcasts while I’m getting ready for the day in the morning and watching sermons on television with Field when we come home at night. There is something very powerful about filling your day with life-giving words and truth. I can feel a major difference in my attitude and heart when I am consistently listening to good teaching. Here are some of my favorites!

The Potter’s Touch by T.D. Jakes

Joyce Meyer’s TV Audio Podcast

Head to Heart by Christa Black Gifford (this one is based on her incredible heart-healing book called, Heart Made Whole)

The City Church Weekly Podcast with Judah Smith

Great Faith
The fact is, seemingly “great” people are really just ordinary people with an extraordinary amount of determination and faith. Great people refuse to quit. They have a foundation of faith that they fall back on when life gets hard. We build this foundation with what (and who) we fill our lives with. I choose to fill my life with things and people that are positive and encouraging to me so that my foundation will be strong when I am weak.

I hope you will choose to do the same, and fill your life with positive truths!

XO-
Sabrina
