mega-fest |ˈmɛgə fɛst| informal adjective 1 very large; huge 2 excellent: Combining form in nouns denoting a festival or gathering of a specified kind: She loved being part of the 2017 MegaFest celebration!

What a weekend! My heart is so full from my time spent at MegaFest 2017! I gained so much wisdom and encouragement from some of the world’s most influential speakers, communicators and pastors. Not to mention, my very own–Bishop T.D. Jakes.

I was thrilled to join Mrs. Serita Jakes and her daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, on the Girl Talk Millennial’s panel on Friday afternoon to share my heart on bridging the gap between business and the church–and balancing it all in a healthy, Godly way!

God has been opening up so many doors for Field and I to share all that He is doing through our company, MINT Dentistry and the avenues of ministry it has opened up for us. It was an honor to share my heart alongside two women whom I love and respect–and who continue to inspire me to become a better, stronger woman of God each day.

It’s incredible to me, that God would choose to use someone like me in the way that He does. I thank God daily for bringing me to where I am and ask that I will never forget where I came from. Statistically speaking, I shouldn’t be where I am right now. But God is faithful and good!

I grew up in a single-parent home, and my mother worked several jobs while putting herself through Grad school to support her family. She was the first to graduate from college in our family, and I was the second. I learned how to work hard, with excellence, from watching my mother–and I honor her for that dedication!

My brother and sister were married with children at a young age, and they would make fun of me for being single at 30. It wasn’t easy trusting God to come through on his promises at that age, but I am so glad I chose to wait for the right man of God for me! Remember, you are not less of a person if you are not married or do not have children, yet. Wait on God for His best for your life!

Now, I don’t necessarily have to work, but I choose to work hard because I want to instil the same values into my own children–who happen to be growing up in a blessed, affluent lifestyle. No matter how much God blesses us, I never want to lose our perspective on where the blessing came from in the first place.

Over time, you begin to learn to enjoy every moment of the journey–no matter how big or how small. Even the smallest, most mundane jobs in my life have prepared me for where I am today. Even the deepest valleys have become some of my greatest blessings because I had no choice but to seek God over those areas of my life, and that brought me closer to Him. It is through those seasons that God is moulding your character to prepare you for your greatest desires in your future career, husband and family.

Though I am not a pastor, preacher or working “in ministry”, it is my greatest desire that my life, gifts and talents would honor God and bless His Kingdom. Field and I believe so strongly that we are called to be a bridge between the church and the marketplace. We want to use our business to bless others and to show other believers that they can use their place of work and business as a way to enhance God’s Kingdom! Overall, I believe businesses can reach people in a way that the church or pastor cannot. Put God first in your business, and watch what He can do!

Keep in mind, the greater the blessing, the more responsibility you will have. So many people want promotions and blessings in life–but are you ready for the work and responsibility that comes alongside those promotions and blessings?

Bishop once said, “Stay hungry and filled at the same time.” That has been my prayer ever since. Women are overcomers. We are multi-taskers. But in order to not get overwhelmed and to balance your business and family life, you need to learn to focus. Focus on what God has called you to today, in that moment. Don’t burn yourself out by thinking you need to do it all. Know your priorities. Keep God first, because if you don’t spend time with the Lord you will burn out because you will be giving from an empty place!

I am so grateful for The Potter’s House and the leadership there. I have been attending since 1999, and every week I go, I feel uplifted, encouraged and inspired to go back into the business world and continue working for Christ. Thank you for honoring me by inviting me onto your panel for MegaFest 2017. Praying this is a year of abundance and blessing for the Church, for your business and for your family!

Keep God first, and everything else will follow!
