GALA GOWN

Field and I recently attended the 2nd Annual “Fashion Stars For A Cause” gala at the Dallas Country Club, benefiting the North Texas Suicide and Crisis Center. Proceeds from the black-tie gala supported the center’s 24-hour crisis line and programs for people who have lost a loved one to suicide and for teens with mental health issues.

I was happy to be a part of this incredible night and support my beautiful girlfriend, Laurie Graham (very soon to be Laurie King) who was named a “Fashion Star” this year.

Normally, I like everything to be scheduled ahead of time since work and my babies keep me very busy these days. Shopping isn’t at the top of my list most days. Looking at my schedule, I realized that I had a gala to attend the next day and nothing to wear! I headed to Tootsies last minute and found a dress that I knew would be perfect for this event.  It was formal and edgy at the same time.  Luckily the seamstress there was so helpful, and was able to alter the gown over night.

I wanted a simple ponytail so that the look could be all about the dress. I love the smoky eyes featured with a soft nude lip.  I accessorized lightly with subtle gold pieces.

While taking photos for my website, my husband decided to join in on the fun! I figured I would feature him as well.

Finding the right formal dress for an event can be difficult. Here’s my advice: When in doubt, wear black!
