escape |ɪˈskeɪp, ɛ-| verb 1 [ no obj. ] break free from confinement or control: two burglars have just escaped.

A few weeks ago, Field and I took our Dallas Mint Dentistry Corporate Office out for a team-building activity called Escape the Room. These escaping the room challenges have been growing in popularity all over the nation, and now I know why!

If you haven’t heard of this growing trend, the game is a fun, interactive entertainment concept designed for intense cooperation and working together. They say it is a perfect way for the office to get out for a high-quality team building exercise, so we wanted to try it for ourselves!

We arrived with our group and after a brief introduction, were sent into the room of our choice. They have several rooms to choose from ranging from The Dig, The Agency, The Apartment and the Western Bank Heist. While the rooms look normal, they are far from ordinary. You and your team will have 60 minutes to find hidden objects, figure out the clues and solve puzzles to earn your freedom. Only 80% of people actually make it out of the room. It goes quick, and it’s so fun–if you can actually escape!

Seeing that it was a competition, Field and I decided to split up and lead both teams. We had such a great time laughing and working together to solve the mysteries. My team was just a few seconds behind Field’s team. I love our Mint Dentistry team and I admire that Field knows the importance of pouring into the people that work for you, and the power of team building opportunities. Having fun and finding common ground with your coworkers is just as important as weekly meetings and tasks. Take time to get to know those you work with today–you just might learn something new to love about them!
