consistency |kənˈsɪst(ə)nsi| [ mass noun ] 1 consistent behavior or treatment: Her consistency made way for her success.

I recently started a new Bible study with a group of girls called, DGroup. My friend, Tara Leigh, came up with the concept and I’ve really loved it because of the accountability, encouragement and consistency it offers. This month in our DGroup, we are studying the book of Joshua. We get a weekly reading plan and a podcast that really holds us accountable to reading the Bible on a consistent basis.
I am a firm believer in spending personal alone time with God each day in prayer and reading scripture, but I also know how important it is to have a group of people and friends who hold you accountable to growing and living a godly life. That’s one of the major reasons I started Equipped by Faith, my monthly Bible Study and Sisterhood. There is something so rare and special about healthy relationships and the encouragement you get from one another!
Healthy, spirit-filled friends will speak faith into your life when you are discouraged, and they will inspire and challenge you to accomplish your God-given purpose and dreams when you want to give up. Surround yourself with people who know the Bible better than you do, people who have wisdom from above and a deep love for God! Sometimes, individuals don’t reach their potential because they are surrounded by negative influences that only drag them down. I really want to encourage you to pray about who you are allowing to influence your mind, life and decisions!
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” – Proverbs 27:17
If you are in need of good friends, I want to encourage you to join us at our monthly Equipped by Faith gathering–or to look through the groups available on the DGroup website. We were made for relationships–with God and with people. I know this will be a great avenue for you to find long-lasting, encouraging relationships for the rest of your life.
“I am a friend to anyone who fears you–anyone who obeys your commands.” Psalm 119:63
You can start your own small group with your friends by visiting MyDGroup. You can decide on a time that works for you to get together each week to discuss the weekly reading, podcast and memory verse. (Side note: these memory verses are not easy! They challenge you, so be prepared to grow!!)
I’m glad these memory verses aren’t short and simple because I want to grow in my faith. Growing our spiritual muscle memory is just like growing our physical muscle memory. Just like you have a daily plan to work out and keep yourself in shape physically, you need to have a consistent faith-driven plan to keep yourself growing spiritually.
“So that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” Colossians 1:10
Make some goals today about what you want in your spiritual life. In order to grow, we need to be consistent in our daily walk with God. DGroups, or other small groups, are a great way to keep you consistent by holding you accountable to your spiritual goals. I believe if you put a plan in place, you will see incredible growth, change and blessing in your heart and life!
God loves you so much, and He wants to spend time with you each day. He always has something to say–we just need to take the time to listen. I pray you can find a group and healthy friendships that will build you up in your spiritual journey, or that you will be able to start your own small group with your close friends. Your destiny is too big to accomplish all by yourself!!
We are better together!
