The Colour Conference – Hillsong NYC

May 6-7, 2016

I love color (“colour” if you reside in a country influenced by the British – or, if you just like being fancy). It might be my natural draw to fashion and interior design, but I’ve always used specific hues and tones to express how I feel through my clothing choices or in conveying the energy I want a room to display when decorating a home or an office space.

Color has the power to change moods, spirits and atmospheres. Warm tones (like reds, oranges and yellows) evoke emotions and feelings of warmth, energy and cheerfulness. Cool tones (including blues, purples and greens) are known to be naturally soothing and comforting.

With millions of unique hues and shades, each naturally displays the distinct pigmentation of the properties it possesses as light is reflected through them. To see colors, you have to have light. When light shines on an object, some colors bounce off the object and others are absorbed by it.

Each color has a purpose individually–but something remarkably beautiful transpires when they all come together.

I was so grateful to be able to attend the Hillsong Colour Conference this May in New York City. New York is one of my favorite cities in the world, and I enjoyed being there with my Christian sisters from all over the world. There is something so powerful about worshiping our Lord Jesus together–with a multitude of magnificent colors, races and backgrounds.

I made notes of some of my favorite speakers and topics from the event, and wanted to share them with you. It is my hope and prayer that these notes will encourage you (as they did me) to walk in freedom and joy as we continue growing into the purpose-driven women that God has called us to become!

Dawn Chere – God Promises to be WITH You
Exodus 3:7,11-12
– God calls you by name. He seeks to speak to you. He’s not waiting for you to clean yourself up today. The life transformation begins when you say, “here I am.”
– You walk into normal moments, and God makes them super-natural.
– Find yourself in the Word of God. Get to know Him there. As you get to know Him, you will hear Him speak.
You can’t give the world hope that you haven’t experienced yourself.
– Jesus went to the cross not FOR you, but AS you.

Bobbie Houston – Panel on Worship, Prayer & Sisterhood
– Understand your value as a woman, and then place that value on the world.
– Sisterhood: we need girlfriends speaking positive language–not gossiping!
– We are not just saved, we are called.
– Unity. We’re in this together. God never designed us to do life alone.
– There is nothing wrong with blessing. The reality of poverty does not make the reality of blessing wrong.
– Prayer: the greatest weapon of warfare of all that is unjust, unfair and wrong. Pray intentionally! It soothes, strengthens, heals and makes a way for the miraculous.
– Prayer is what engages the spiritual realm. You can’t negate the spiritual realm that does exist. It connects the human soul with the creator!
– Vision and mandate: to create an environment that enables women to know there is a God that loves them and a group of women that believe in them.
– Wishing doesn’t change anything. We need to declare the truth and promises of God over our lives.

Christine Caine – Champion the Cause of the Local Church, Everywhere
– Strive to be better, stronger and more in love with Jesus.
– Our work in the field is not yet done!
– Philippians 3:9-16, Proverbs 15:24, Romans 1:17, Psalm 84:7, 2 Corinthians 3:18
– We are fulfilling His purpose and His destiny
– Forgetting what is behind and looking to what is ahead. The goal is — Jesus!
– The ultimate goal is to make Christ known to our generation.
– Hebrews 6:12 – Imitate those who through faith and patience and inherit what is promised.
– We cannot bypass the process if we are going to possess what is ours to inherit.
– Develop the light that is in you and watch what God does with the light around you.
– Exodus 23:29-30 – God gives us the promise little by little.
– Nothing happens overnight. Little by little. Step by step. Don’t be afraid of moving slowly, be afraid of standing still.
– Psalm 37:23 – We all want to do something great, but we miss all the little steps to get there!

Let the light shine through you today and radiate all the beautiful colors that God has uniquely placed inside of you!
