birthday |ˈbəːθdeɪ| noun the anniversary of the day on which a person was born.• the day of a person’s birth: she had the most wonderful birthday

My 35th birthday was a night I will always remember!

To be honest, 35 was a bigger number than I was anticipating, and it came quickly, along with a few uncertainties and insecurities. How am I already in my mid-thirties? It seems the older I get, the more quickly the years fly by. So, this year–I decided to celebrate the best way I could–and even had a few (wonderful) surprises thrown my way!

On my actual birthday, a group of my friends and I went to see Kanye West’s Saint Pablo Tour in Dallas. It was an amazing show and we all had such a great time! I thought this was going to be my best birthday celebration, but my husband had other plans…

On Saturday night, Field asked me to dress up for a nice dinner celebration with our family at the NYLO Hotel. I noticed how nicely everyone was dressed, and was convinced he had a “surprise” photoshoot planned for me and our family somewhere that evening. He led me upstairs to the rooftop after dinner and I was preparing to act surprised when I saw our photographer friend awaiting on the rooftop for some “surprise” photos. “Field is so sweet,” I thought, “I’ll go along with this…”

SURPRISE
But nothing could have prepared me for what was going to happen next. When we exited the elevator onto the rooftop, I was startled by a shout of, “SURPRISE!” from all of my closest friends and family. Field had managed to plan a surprise party for me on top of the NYLO Hotel with a DJ, fireworks and all of the people I hold so dear. I was blown away!

I’m not a “cryer” but can’t tell you how emotional I was as I walked around the room hugging all of my beautiful friends! I couldn’t hold back the tears. Everyone looked so fabulous and they were having so much fun. It made me so happy! I realized, more than ever, how much I love fellowship and how much of a blessing every single person is to my life!

I had the time of my life, and was so thankful for each person who made my birthday so special–especially my incredible husband and best friend. He worked hard to make sure the night was perfect for me, and it was!

All the Party Details
The party was perfect because of all of the thoughtful details that were put into the planning. The NYLO Hotel was the perfect location with a beautiful rooftop view of the city. They were wonderful to work with, and the Event Sales Manager, Olivia Cantu, made everything come together perfectly.

My birthday cake was so beautiful I didn’t want to cut into it, but I’m so glad we did! We ordered it from Susie Cakes, a little bakery in Dallas with the most incredible customer service and baked treats. Moriah Focht, their Celebration Specialist, helped Field get the perfect cake for the party. I would use them again in a heartbeat!

A party just wouldn’t be a party without music! Field hired a great family friend of ours, DJ Jay*Clipp. He always plays the best music and keeps the atmosphere fun and energetic. I loved dancing with all of my friends until our feet could take no more in our heels. What a great night!

In the middle of the party, Field gathered everyone outside onto the rooftop patio and thanked them for coming. As they all began singing, “Happy Birthday” to me, a huge fireworks show began. Fireworks, just for me! I couldn’t have imagined anything more perfect. I held onto Field’s hand as I watched, filled with gratitude and thankfulness for all my friends and family, and an excitement for the new year to come.

The Greatest Gift
I have so many different friends from so many different circles, and to see all of them together in one room showed me what life is truly all about: loving God and loving Him on earth by loving others. Relationship is the greatest gift from above. I can honestly say that I am every friend’s greatest cheerleader and greatest fan! I am ride or die for these people until the end!

My prayer is to be as great a friend to everyone of you as of you are to me. I pray that our friendships inspire, encourage, uplift and carry each other to greatness in every season of life. That we see things in each other that we can’t even see in ourselves. That we have more laughter and fun than ever before and that our sisterhood would reflect God’s love on the earth. Declaring that this will be a year of overwhelming joy, supernatural purpose, intense clarity and divine connections for every single one of you!

Thank you for an incredible night, that I will never, never forget!

I’m still smiling.

XO-
Sabrina

PS: Special thanks to Joanna Lopez, Frank Del Corral and all who helped with the behind the scenes preparation for the party. You made my 35th perfectly lovely, and bring joy and organization to my life! Thank you!!
